Jhari Falls (Buttermilk Falls)
A white sheet of water off a granite face
Also called Buttermilk Falls for the frothy white water that pours off the rock, Jhari sits amid coffee estates below the Baba Budangiri range. The last few kilometres are a rough estate track usually covered by shared 4x4 jeep; morning light throws a rainbow across the spray.

Travel tips
The last 3 km from Attigundi is a rough estate track — local jeeps run it and private cars generally should not. Best from July to December; by April there is little water. Go early; the jeep queue builds by mid-morning.

Do: use the local jeep service rather than risking your own vehicle on the track. Do: watch your footing on the wet rock. Don't: stand directly under the fall when it is in spate. Don't: take plastic down to the pool — carry everything back up.
